Questions & Guidelines

What is required for eligibility?

  • Established credit.
  • Good rental history over the past 12 months.
  • Stable income: Gross monthly income is used to calculate the amount of the home that applicants can afford.
  • The lender or financial institution must be listed with the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority as an approved lender to provide mortgage assistance to GCRA homeownership applicants.  All other GCRA Homeownership requirements including lender requirements will apply.
  • Good employment history.
  • If you have filed for bankruptcy, you must wait two years.
  • The ability to pay one percent of the purchase price as a down payment.
