Greenville County has prepared a five year Consolidated Plan for federally funded housing and community development programs, to cover activities from July, 2010 to June, 2015. In the Plan, GCRA describes needs for improved, affordable housing and shelter for homeless persons, public facilities, services and infrastructure. GCRA presents to the general public a market study of county housing needs and current conditions. GCRA also presents a strategy for using anticipated funding from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) and HOME Affordable Housing Programs. This strategy will manage annual action plans for funding specific work during this period, and will coordinate this work with local activities and other use of federal resources for community development and housing.
The County’s Consolidated Plan covers the cities of Fountain Inn, Greer, Mauldin, Simpsonville, and Travelers Rest, as well as all unincorporated areas of Greenville County. The City of Greenville prepares its own Consolidated Plan independently. Inquirers may contact the City of Greenville’s Community Development office at (864) 467-4570.
