GCRA receives $800,000 in federal brownsfield grants from the EPA!

The Greenville News covered the story; here's an excerpt:

The Greenville County Redevelopment Authority has received $800,000 in federal brownsfield grants from the Environmental Protection Agency that will help clean up the 11 acres at Buncombe and A streets, officials announced Tuesday.

“Since purchasing the Poe Mill site four years ago, GCRA has been working to obtain funds to clear it and begin its redevelopment,” board chairman David Doser said in a release. "We are pleased to say that on our second attempt, EPA awarded us this grant to begin that process.”

GSA Business covered the story as well; an excerpt follows:

“The assessment element of the grant creates even more incentive for job creation and investment in the Poinsett District,” said Shannon Herman, Greenville County project manager, in a news release. “We truly have outstanding momentum.”
